Is it normal to have some sand in the bottom of a pool after sand change? I had none last year, and changed the sand at the beginning of the season this year (about 2 weeks ago), and there's a little building up in spots at the bottom. I have no sightglass, backwash to a storm drain, and my laterals are fixed, not hinged- so I couldn't get the assembly out for a thorough inspection. Everything seemed ok, as far as I could tell. I just bought a new Hayward Pro Series sand filter, 21". During setup I put a bucket of water in the sand filter (as the instructions say) and the drain plug leaks. I played with it a bunch and couldn't get it to stop leaking. It's definitely on straight and appropriately tight. It doesn't seem to matter how tight I make it, the same amount of water is leaking out. The only thing I can think of is maybe when the sand filter top is off, and there's no sand in it, maybe it leaks on purposes? The threads aren't stripped, and there's no sand or particles in the threads. I'm pretty stumped.

You don't show how to keep water levels up. And I have air bubbles in my the pump even after I Prime it.

I have a leak similar to the one you show on your video and my pool guy is saying he may have to replace the housing. Is that possible ?

My heater is only registering 30 volts. The heater light is on but no heat.

I’m only getting 120 from one side from the other side so basically the heat is only getting 120. Does that mean the boards bad or is there something that could be changed?

Why the heck are t the lines to the pump and pool shown? That would have helped a lot.

Hi, I just followed your video and I’m not getting 120v between the black and white wires. Any idea what the solution to that would be? My hot tub is not turning on, it’s acting completely dead. Red and white read 120v just fine, seems like the black wire is the issue?

Great video! I have a Beachcomber hot tub and had it closed for two years. Opened it this year and worked for 24 hours. Then heard a pop sound and fuse went. Replaced the spa pack 20a fuse connected to the hush pump motor and restarted the breaker. Then I heard some sounds and then the hush pump started smoking up and saw a flame so quickly turned it off. Guessing the motor is completely dead at that point?

I have been pulling my hair out with a low flo error. Finally worked out it was this part broken and blocking the pipe. Now to get that broken valve out.

Just installed a brand new motor and voltage is 230 like previous and now it will turn on but turns back off minutes after and smells hot.

So when you backwash it (after it’s all changed) that’s what fills the filter back up with water? I don’t have to fill it up with water?

This might be a dumb question, but please bare with me as I am 1000% BRAND NEW to maintaining a pool and hot tub. I have ZERO knowledge whatsoever other than I just know pools and hot tubs need chemicals. However, is it okay to just use bromine only? I just set up our hot tub and have to maintain it this year because my Dad just can't do it anymore. I just set it up yesterday and today. I filled it yesterday and turned it on to get warm. It was around 65° when it was completely filled it last night around 8:30-9:00 pm. Today when I was able to finish cleaning the cover and inflatable thingy for the cover, the temperature was at 97°. I did drop 1 bromine tab into a float last night and today I just dropped another 1.5 tablets directly into the tub,(I was told to!! I didn't think it sounded right, either. Lol) Ran the bubbles for a few mins to get them spread out a little bit and that's all the chemicals that I have. I know that bromine is a sanitizer, but is that all I really need?!? Or are the other chemicals 1000% necessary?

I have a sand filter so when I do this should I close the valve to the main drain? I don't get this kind of suction from the skimmer for sure..

I always get sand in my pool from the sand filter even when it was new and put together correctly. So I still don’t understand.

I just changed my heat sensor on my Sundance. I"m now getting and SN 3 code and a reading of 106 with cold water. I still don't get what the problem is.

I have this same issue but I have a Hayward DE filter. I have broken down the filter close to 10 times, cleaning and inspecting everything, in the last two weeks with the same result. I've cleaned the flex tubes with degreaser and then with muriatic acid. It will run great for about 30 minutes then the pressure jumps to 20 and the return slows way down. When the pressure gets to 20, water starts pushing out at the clamp that holds the filter together. Once I bump it, it's fine again for another 30 minutes. I'm to the point where I think I might just have to buy a new filter because I don't know what else to do. Btw, while waiting for the degreaser and muriatic acid soak, I ran the pump without the filter to keep the water circulating and the flow was fine. So, I don't think there's anything wrong with my pump.

Great video, I have a “very fast leak”, where as soon as I fill the base, maybe a few inches high, the water starts to leak out and the tub empties in a few minutes. I do also have a creature that lives in there and I am working on getting rid of him. Please advise how to locate the leak, it is definitely not close to the panels, therefore making it difficult to reach too.

Thanks for the video. My pool seems to not be clear after 3 shocks already. I removed as much debris as I could. (Hard to see for how murky the water is). I also replaced the sand in the filter last summer, as I was having issues with keeping the water clear. I suspect possibly a faulty multiport valve. Any advice on how to pinpoint the issue?
